Twenty-one years ago, over the Fourth of July weekend, my husband and I were driving on Interstate 10 when he spotted a tiny black kitten along the shoulder.
Loved this story Daria. Hope you had a good holiday. Many people would not have considered going anywhere near Frank as a black cat, but it sounds like you were lucky to find each other.
I'm highly allergic to cats, but my husband and I had two dogs when we were in our early married days which ended up being impractical given our 4-hour roundtrip commute daily to work in NYC and they didn't have the pet day care back then they do today.
But even though they were with us only a short while, the memories are priceless and still something we talk about to this day, so I can only imagine what a lifetime with a pet would be.
Frank is the sweetest boy. Even as an “old man” he’s not grouchy. What a gift pets are. They do change our lives in ways we don’t even realize. I’m glad you had the opportunity to experience it even if it was for only a brief time.
Happy fourth of July to you and John. And your babies. Pets are angels in disguise. I never knew just how much until Nova. She doesn’t leave our side and gives us so much Joy.
